Studio Portraits
My best image is the fifth picture. This image is a close up of Tallie's head where she is facing away from the camera with a slight tilt in head. The light is hitting her face on her left side which makes her right side becomes faded and almost completely disappears. I like the look of the lighting because it looks mysterious. I took this image vertically to ensure the whole background will be completely filled with the black backdrop. I shot this image with a slight angle to enhance the tilt of her face. I was about four to five feet away from her when I took the image. This image creates mystery in the image because of the black background and Tallie's faded body. This image also reveals her serious personality because of her straight face. This image compared to the first image is very different. The first image shows Hailey's humorous personality because of the way she is looking at the camera with a smirk on her face. Also the lighting is much different because Tallie's background was dark and serious where as Hailey's was bright and welcoming.
Self Portrait
My first image is of me with a basketball in my hand. I took this image by setting the self timer and having the camera about five feet away. Some techniques I incorporated in this image are the rule of thirds, leading lines and positive and negative space. I framed the image to be in the rule of thirds which made the image come together. I also took it with my living room blinds closed so I could get the lines from it too lead the viewer through my portrait. I took this image with no flash because there was enough light where I took the image. I chose to be holding a basketball because I love basketball and have been since I was five. I wanted to show my personality and who I am in my pictures. I believe this image was a success because it is a well composed image with positive and negative space.
